...And Speaking Of Witch

This is another case of - I wasn't intending on...

So I'm caught in the city. It's massively raining and I was intending on catching the ferry across the river, to the expensive but good, food products place known as 'the Good Grocer.'

I was going to walk down to the ferry.

But just then, is if by magic, I find that I am right outside the big 'Palace Cinema' and Lo, and Behold: 'Practical Magic 2.'

Okay maybe the rain'll stop by the time -, either I cut the show in half and walk out on it, or stay 'til the end and watch the whole thing.

The night before I have been once again down at the late-nite coffee house, absorbing just a few more pages of MacLaine's book.

And I'm seeing that yay verily indeed, she is exactly going into all the really important parts of how to do it all, why it works; what it is really all about - despite that earlier I had supposed she knew it, but was likely not going to tell. 

But she does tell.

Thus, armed with a certain pleasant glow about these Hollywood grandes dames, I buy a ticket.

Again, Lo and Behold, the kid behind the counter tells me I must have purchased so many cinema tickets over recent years (I can't remember doing that...), that I get a Free Ticket now, if I wanted to use it. But I tell him, heck no, I'll pay for this and use the tokens for the 'Golden Lounge' thing-y or whatever, next time.

(Okay, okay - 'I can't remember doing that' lol).

So it's fifteen minutes into the movie and I'm going 'don't let me down. I can't believe you guys have started this so well...'

Point number 1 is the film has the best story-line continuity and scene continuity editing I have seen for a number of (recent) years.

Now sure you can find flaws, if that's what you simply must do, and I dare say all the mainstream religious zealots will utterly detest the thing, modern 'witches' (or at least, people who think they are) will argue about stuff being depicted as well.

The subject or theme of 'blood' is never explained correctly or properly in movies about witchcraft, and that is probably in large part to do with the people making those films not knowing anything about it -. 

And the 'pseudo' special effects are standard for what audiences, especially G-Rated audiences will expect in movies and if you just get rid of all of that, most ordinary cinema-goers will feel that something was missing. So yeah, ya get that stuff.

The bad guy is not nearly as bad as he possibly could have been and his motivation in the story and his 'antagonist' character is straight out of a New York writers' workshop textbook.

But none of that is important if you grasp the rest of what is going on.

The kids who do the younger people roles are all able to leave their egos out the door, and just do their jobs (fully and properly) and follow behind the mature actresses, who really know what they are doing.

It's a movie for girls and women, yes sure, but so what.

What can we see from the whole production?

These people care.

None of them is faking anything in here. There is acting going on of course, but there is no 'acting' going on.

They all believe in what they are doing and none of it feels staged or trite or trivializing of the themes of life and (eventual) normal death.

For humans, even for witches.

Now there are two types of witches in the world: there are those who have and adopt the roles of mother, wife, human, living a human life among humans, looking after kids, keeping a family together. And indeed, 'witches' come in both genders (viz., Gerald Gardner) although they are mostly female.

And then there are those who are witches, but are really living as witches too and not masquerading for some reason of sentiment about the human race. 'Witches' are not of the human race or of human stock and kind -, or 'species.'

They are very different.

And here is a key point about it - you can use this particular movie as an important movie: if you or someone you know is dealing with a truly serious 'human crisis.'

There are a lot of these types of things that go on with people, and most of the time, it's not so easy to just adopt Osho's stance as mentioned in a comment just previously.

And definitely, it has become a 'thing' in our times, where people very deliberately portray some 'tragic' circumstance and then we're all supposed to just fall over and yield to whatever they want or want to say... The legacy news media does it all the time.

In the end the film is satisfying and you will have left with a sense that there is a resolution to the inevitable tragedies of human suffering and life.

It is the solution they - the Producers on the movie, and maybe they are witches of a sort too - want to have you take away into your daily life.

It is not the solution I would want to impart to anyone I felt really deserved answers.

'My solution' goes all the way.

And right now, MacLaine is heading in that direction in her book. And I think that whether she divulges it or not, there is already enough given so that those using the methods and ideas, will 'move forward.'

It's not 'my' solution, of course. It's the solution. But all the same, I do prefer to be dealing with people - humans - who care, as opposed to those that say they care, make all the noises, wave their arms about in the right kinds of portrayal ways; and who are a long way from comprehending anything as living, intelligent, sentient, conscious beings. These people are 'keeping scores.' and not knowing a thing about the nature of the metrics entailed.

Brando's character 'Colonel Walter E. Kurtz' was a 'witch' of a kind, in Apocalypse Now. Of course it's just a movie, but the idea of the archetypal spiritual forces involved in Death and War, are quite accurate. Dennis Hopper's character was a dumb, drug-addled photographer - whose own real life was never the same after he was in that film! LOL
