I'm glad you were paying attention!
Otherwise for sure I would have just kept my mouth shut and proceeded on my merry way chattering about the difference between the Sorcery of Jean Cocteau and Roger Vadim and that tiny handful of others of a few generations ago now - and the people with vast production budgets but beyond that with absolutely no idea at all of how Vadim and Co actually did what they did.
...So there is this tree in North America called the 'North American Sweetgum,' and frankly to me it has this characteristic and not altogether completely pleasant odor that exudes from it, especially in a cool evening or night. [CORRECTION! It is the Canadian tree that has this slightly unpleasant 'scent;' the Sweetgum is pretty nice, actually.]
![]() |
Listen, ya hafta persevere with all of this, because at a certain point it becomes so satisfying. |
The tree has these sort of spiky - well, very spiky in fact - 'berries' or something, and it releases a resin - aka the actual 'sweetgum.'
Now whereas the slightly similar Canadian Red Maple is very toxic because of the high tannin content and the chemical reactions that occur when the leaves and twigs dry and go brown - the North American Sweetgum is edible, in the sense that the resin is chewable and has a few properties - it contains Shikimic acid which is also in Chinese Star Anise (however the Japanese one, like the Canadian Red Maple, is toxic).
Shikimic acid is the main ingredient used in the Pharmacy medicine 'Tamiflu' and was used successfully to combat Covid.
It is also a necessary co-compound ingredient for the infamous (or famous) Ayahuasca, without which the Ayahuasca brew itself does not do anything.
And I tell you all of that, in order to tell you this:
A number of flowers have this thing called 'Harmine' and/or also 'Harmaline' in them, and that thing will...
...Now here I'm going to step backwards and sideways, to Herodotus and Christianity at source.
![]() |
North American Sweetgum. |
Herodotus uses the Ancient Greek word 'Chreo' (or Kreo too, which has to do with 'trance-dance;' from Chora-aeo), and he means something that smears a color over the skin [ref LSJ lexicon for 'Chreo;' Herodotus' usage] - which then opens a Chrio: portal, or 'threshold.'
Ah.
You see?
They never told you that in Sunday School, did they?
Ammon Hillman hasn't even got there yet, either!

This is a woodcut or drawing whatever, I dunno, from the Chinese Classic 'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio of Leisure.' 1740 AD. |
Now this next bit is super duper extra extra IMPORTANT.
If you have this expectation in your head, you'll just keep yourself awake and your front brain will be surging trying to get its dopamine-serotonin loop hits...
The only way this thing works, is if you just do it, practice various combinations of things, calm down, and then by-and-by, one day - heck it works!
See the thing is if you go knocking on these doors, these portals, effectively, you will eventually catch someone's attention, and then they being who and what they are, are (mostly/usually) going to stick to protocols.
Yes they've heard you, and they've seen you - doesn't mean flower fairies and elves and angels are all going to turn up on your doorstep at just any time at all.
Now you're going to still have to 'extract' certain ideas from what you have just read in here, and test for yourselves what you think might be the implications, or 'ritualistic' processes that are involved and entailed.
At the most fundamental, basic, obvious, stoopid and childish level (it isn't but it is in a sense too), certain flowers, certain colors, certain scents, persistently create a 'harmonic' with humans - Barbie is all pink for a reason; the reason being that fairy floss is often pink and soft and fluffy -, and all of that child-like sentimentality.
All humans 'grok' it.
Hypericum flowers have Harmine (NB Harmine is also known as 'telepathine' for those exact reasons!), Nymphalidae butterflies also do, Passionflowers do, Helichrysum Italicum (curry plant) and the licorice version of the same plant have a huge amount of active chemical compounds in them, and -.

I had already been stockpiling these pics because I was going to make this kind of post (the subject matter of it) anyway. |
And there is one flower that I have omitted talking about because it is very common, very gorgeous, very obvious, and you can make your own ink out of it.
And it's a secret!
So Ssshhhh.
After we get one of these dunces in the celebrity business to actually do a short clip for us, then you will be able to see what it is and see it in action and see the results - as the subject goes way under and emerges afterwards with blinking eyes and bearing fanciful stories that no one will believe, naturally.
We are humans for just now.
We have mostly water in our composite bodies.
We do not have a 'liquid fiery light' flowing through our veins.
But those guys can turn up here in our type of physical material 'ordinary' bodies - just like ours -, or, in their own style of body; which is potentially a problem because if they just touch you, which some of them do because they are right little (*!); then it will leave marks and definitely destroy your hair follicles there.
I forget the first question that Euterpe posted, actually. I'll have to go back and look carefully now and come back later.
LOL What can I say? I get so caught up in the thrill of the moment...!

Listen to the track below. It is so satisfying at a certain point quite deep into the thing. |
Of my own carry on.
Oh, the heat haze thing. Sure, but that's only the merest part of it all. They are 'normal' in the sense that they have bodies like we have bodies - but, the abundance of neuro-electric signalling is gargantuan compared to us; they have optical fiber cabling I guess, is the simplest way to put it, where we have blood vessels. But there's more to it than just light photons. It's not like you might imagine something clunky and 'robotic;' if anything it is more subtle and tensile of a body than we have.
Meanwhile - meanwhile as I say constantly - don't insist to yourself that if you follow some ritual or use some exotic hand-extracted flower substance that is to be used on your forehead while you are burning incense, then Higher World beings simply must turn up for you on the spot in ten minutes, or even in an hour.
'Yes Master. Your Wish is My Command, Oh Master of the Sacred Flame!'
Nah. No. Not (usually not) going to happen.
Er... Well. Put it this way - they will turn up, but first, we must secure one of these dolts from Hollywood or, if not, some other adequate person to present the thing properly. So that it is fun.
As far as extracting the necessary Chreo from certain floral sources -, all it takes is the petals, nice and deeply-colored, right...
And you heat them in a shallow amount of water, don't over-boil, just slowly raise the temperature and adjust back so as to evaporate the liquid in the pan, and you will in about twenty minutes of doing this, end up with some very strong-colored liquid.
And when 'that part,' in the music hits you, go back to the pics and see which one makes sense with the music...
It's definitely not healthy in the conventional sense, but smoking pure, unprocessed or minimally processed tobacco also contains maois. And I truly believe that the smell and taste of the tobacco does in fact place one in contact with a certain high level, masculine type entity. Very similar to the saturn archetype.
ReplyDeleteMAOI's are a big deal in this type of thing. Well, they ARE the thing. With the general public though, they are all so insensitive these days, that they require some 'substance' that is the equivalent of being run over by a freight train: 'Oh, I FELT that...' Oh really, you don't say. lol On the one hand we can rightly ask 'why do we need flowers to show us the way?' On the other hand, human society has become that 'dumbed-down' and numbed that it fundamentally lacks the actual sensory processes of sentient life 'in the wild' so to speak. Humans are no longer 'wild caught Salmon!' Not only that, they literally mostly ARE 'the ones that John West throws away.'
DeleteThing is, the technique you first taught to me, which requires no external objects nor substances at all, just the correct form of meditation, will, as you very well know, eventually culminate in a psycho somatic response which is very much a natural high.
DeleteLooking into the biochemistry via chat gpt, it looks like when you are able to suppress the "default mode network" of neural activity especially in the brain stem, spinal cord, and vagus nerve, it begins to regulate serotonin, dopamine, noreprinephrine, adrenaline, and cortisol basically automatically gets regulated by some sort of dormant, underlying mechanism that itself is actually being suppressed by whatever stuff is "default" to us.
It has led me to believe that humans have heen using substances these millenia to attempt to remember the path back to that original, best, cleanest, natural high. Am I onto something?
I 100% KNOW that it is the techniques alone that really 'open the door' so to speak. The one in particular that you likely do have, is THE one that works all the time. People I guess are just lazy and/or don't either have the time anyway, or do not set aside sufficient personal time and space, to enact the procedure and use the processes already available to the brain and mind. I don't see how using strong substances will give anyone a reliable result - they will always be thinking 'oh maybe it was a chemically-induced hallucination.'
DeleteI agree 100%. I don't think that the stronger substances were ever supposed to be distributed to people as a widespread form of enlightenment. It likely does cause a lot more confusion than it does clarity.
DeleteThe spare few, lucky ones who make it out of the stronger experiences with some form of real insight, should in my opinion immediately start trying to extract and separate what they can teach themselves outside of the drug experience, and become adept at doing it sober. Because it's not too smart to go passing out a bunch of LSD and things of that nature. But it is highly beneficial to create a technique which will preclude the need to go searching down those drug pathways to begin with. As you have done.
The strong substances are highly risky as you know, and frankly the pitfalls outweigh the benefits if you look at it as a risk-reward matrix. And even those who want to truly evolve, well we are going to have to do it with no crutches eventually. The transcendent stuff we are doing, and the results of it, have to be completely integrated. So I completely agree, that the less invasive the method of making this happen, the better. And the lighter pathways, flowers, skin dyes, etc. Runs zero risk of addiction nor of psychic confusion. It's very low risk, and therefore much safer to advise for folks. I appreciate you as always.
Thanks for the post, Calvin.
ReplyDeleteThat is correct, I believe the expectation and anticipation get in the way when I try these techniques. Heart races, can't relax, etc. I also think I might be one of these people who need to be hit over the head with these chemicals to feel anything. Except for alcohol, which easily unleashes a tidal wave of emotion for me. Part of the reason why I don't touch it anymore, and frankly, I'm terrified of it now.
Yeah, I feel you there. I stopped drinking myself, because it makes me really sick even after one beer. Can't even enjoy the taste anymore. But it's for the better. I smoked cannabis basically daily for 15 out of the past 20 years. I stopped that a couple of weeks ago, and I feel a lot more clarity. It actually makes me feel more in tune with the other side now.
DeletePsilocybin helped me a lot and uncovered all my deep childhood issues. But that substance is not to be taken lightly. A very extreme approach which I respect and somewhat also fear.
But the mushroom experiences taught me I was using them as well as cannabis to mask the deeper issues I was facing. I smoked weed for nausea as well as to sleep. Well there were hard coded reasons I have been regularly nauseous and sleep deprived. So now time to fix them.
The best way, as Mr. John says all the time here, is to use the mildest means possible to make contact, because as he says, the people we are trying to contact have this power built into their nervous system. They aren't using any substances to make contact with us. So if we want to be like them, we have to try hard.
I guess for me, the goal has been to make contact and now stop being a lowkey polyaddict! Hahaha
But as you see in my comment above, tobacfo is still there with me. I will work on weaning off that if I can't stop cold turkey after a while. But right now it's still getting me through the day if you want me to be honest.
I’m facing the giving up smoking experience here. Trying hard with the letting go David Hawkins mindset but it is hard for me as I like smoking too much so I’m struggling to get to acceptance. Parents were smokers so I’m coming to realise I’ve been a smoker in some form for all of my life. My sig other reckons I have undiagnosed ADHD might explain the difficulty in giving it up. But a pack costs $50 here and I’m a pack a day, and he smokes too.
DeleteI was hoping that friends from above could just tweak the desire for cigarettes out of my system. Anyway I only have 8 cigarettes today as I had 12 yesterday (a pack is 20) it’s going to be a hard day
Whew. I feel bad for you. Also quite fortunate. I live in the southern US, where a pack of smokes is still $8.95 for camels and marlboros. Cheaper for the lower brands. I just bought a can of Drum, 5 oz for $30. It's some of the best rolling shag money can buy. Better than the pack smokes.
DeleteWe have copenhagen snuff too which is a delicacy all it's own.
I guess my habit is sort of a regional luxury. Lol i am definitely not a rich man. Yet.
Forgot to put my name above. It's still Tom. I need to make an account, lol!
DeleteAs you say, I do believe part of all of this is about getting our brains and bodies off of the stuff that we've been using to cope with living in this broken society, in order to uncover and strengthen the latent abilities. It really is no wonder that substance abuse is such a problem currently. The blog here was instrumental in me getting sober, about three and a half years ago now. I wish you both the best in getting off of whatever substances you wish to be off of.
DeleteI sympathize with the shamanic route, using the substances to awaken the internal main thing. South American shamans call tobacco the "master plant," but theirs is an entirely separate species from what people smoke worldwide. Their "mapacho" naturally contains vastly more MAOIs, which is probably the thing that is most helpful.
DeleteYears ago, when I had a major breakthrough mushroom trip that showed me my underlying telepathic abilities, the entities tied to the mushrooms told me that I was supposed to learn how to use the abilities without drugs at all. Last time I took them, years after that trip, I felt like they were saying to me "Stop contacting us like this, leave us alone for a while and focus on yourself!" lol, point taken.
I must have refreshed away from the page without publishing my last comment to Tom and Euterpe.
ReplyDeleteBasically it went… I have to create an account too. I’m the Anon who lives in a country at the bottom of the world whose govt prices cigs at $50 a pack in their attempts to price out younger people from ever picking up the habit.
But I love smoking with a side of coffee. And while we are comfortable on a salary our smoking amounts to $1000 every 10 days. That’s a mortgage payment! We are having to rethink the $12 block of butter so we can have a smoke! Fricken give them to us on prescription or something (me in bargaining mode)
I think you Tom and your mushrooms, and Euterpe are right. There is something the addictions are offering us that we think we don’t have without them. Whatever that thing is that I am missing or covering up I need to find - because at this point I still love my cigs and I’m not sure how I can go without them. Maybe I could be a criminal underworld smuggler of black market Marlboros? ;)
I’m down to 2 for the rest of the day and it’s only 330pm
Not sure what the restrictions are on ordering whole leaf unprocessed tobacco, but you might come off way better getting some of that and shagging it yourself. Or if you want to quit smoking you can make some swedish snus or some good old American style dip.
DeleteThanks for all the suggestions Tom. I spent some time looking and here we can buy tobacco seeds and grow our own but we have to be “permitted” to bring tobacco leaves and products into the country. I did find some organic tobacco sellers and also found it funny that a cig filling machine only costs $15 !
DeleteAt the end of the day (do people still say that) I think that as much as I love smoking it has all the control. Even today having to measure them out was taxing on my emotions and that frustrated fidgety feeling. The longest I’ve ever consciously gone without a cigarette was a 12 hour plane trip and I ended up bawling my eyes out on a stop over and kissing the cigarette like Katy Perry kissing the ground coming back from space
It has all the control and I don’t even know what my base line is anymore, so maybe if I’m priced out then I’ll have no choice but to get to know myself without them. I just don’t want to have to go through the withdrawals and missing them
Honestly, I was hopelessly addicted to the level you just described, until I started doing Mr. John's techniques, which certainly do work. The result is dooamine and cortisol regulation without external sources. While I do allow myself to have tobacco for now, I don't HAVE to have it. Honestly if I went 24 hours without it I could probably go forever without. I'm about to transition my tobacco use to a much milder regimen of weekly ceremonial use, like the shamans used to use it originally.
