The Euphemisms

I am very pleased - not 'proud;' proud isn't the right word for it - that I was a private student of Paul Ritter when he was alive.

You may not know who Paul Ritter was, but let me give it some context - the former Prime Minister of Australia, the staggering genius Paul Keating, as well as his nemesis Piers Akerman the journalist, would immediately know who you are talking about when you say 'Paul Ritter.'

Brilliant, brilliant, psychologist

Paul Ritter was a trained Psychoanalyst of the 'European School' (which is a Federation now or 'Institute' form or organization which covers the field of trained people with roots back to Jung and Freud and Rank and Adler). This does not appear in his biog in Wikipedia but it is the case all the same. What does appear is the narrative that Paul Ritter was 'devoted' to the infamous Wilhelm Reich and that Reich appeared to suggest Ritter had taken the ideas of Reich down a different path. Well, I mean what's new about that kind of dialectic between psychoanalysts?! LOL

I don't think he was devoted to Wilhelm Reich or his ideas particularly. Ritter possessed an abundance of knowledge about many people's ideas and he himself was much more well-known as an architect and engineer and town planner than as a psychoanalyst in any case.

But he was a psychoanalyst and a very good one.

There are not too many people who know that it is Paul Ritter's name that was on one of the Twin Tower Buildings' foundation stones...

Now there is another Paul Ritter, who is an actor who played a small role in the Bond flick Quantum of Solace. I don't know that guy... I hardly recall having seen him in the movie. I have seen Lee Pace though, who might play the next Bond...

Anyway.

So, the point here is that there are many people, ideas, even things, that are quite obscure to the public, and have never been pushed forward into the public eye.

acceptable for women too

What you will read about Wilhelm Reich, a major figure of psychoanalysis along with the more well-know luminaries of the field, is that some of his ideas were 'crackpot.' Or in fact, that he was a crackpot, or that towards the end of his life he became a crackpot.

It ought not to make any difference to you what the truth of it all was or may have been, because this is not a two-way discussion we are having here - I am writing this Blog, and there is virtually never any open public responses to it. And so, I am just preaching away, to no one in particular, in my own corner of the Universe, unknown, like Ritter, unseen, but at least, not attempting very often to 'make it rain' via some 'cloudbuster' contraption that I am aiming up at the sky.

Peter Reich, Wilhelm Reich's son, was interviewed once and he casually mentioned that when he saw the movie 'Star Wars' at the part where they introduced Obiwan, he felt ripped off because that was his father they appeared to be depicting.

You have to watch out for aristocrats - when they use words like 'Bohemian' they don't mean people who have to live out in the streets and are homeless.
